Cherry Class Assembly

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

This week Cherry Class shared work and songs with friends and family. Following the theme of Wet and Wild, they have been looking at animals and learning songs about them. We saw some lovely paintings. The children sang to everyone using instruments to keep the beat. The children showed us books they had made about animal facts they knew. The whole class had pictures of themselves reading in different places. They had made speech bubbles to go with them.

Cherry Class Assembly

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

This week friends and family of Cherry Class were invited to join their assembly and see some of the work they have produced and hear some of the songs they have learnt. The children gave a very confident performance, using musical instruments to create the animal sounds in their song ‘Farmer Duck Lived on a Farm’ and we saw some excellent animal impressions dancing to the song.

New Head Celebrations

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Today the children were given the chance to show their joy at the news that Mrs Shackleton has been appointed as the new Head Teacher of St. James’ Infants. During a special assembly Mrs Shackleton was escorted, blindfolded, into the hall where a silent assembled school waited eagerly for the blindfold to be removed. A wonderful surprised smile immediately appeared on Mrs Shackleton’s face as the blindfold was removed and she could see the children with their floral gifts. There were some special songs, organised by Mrs King and the children came up individually and presented their gift to Mrs Shackleton. Some of the children presented packs of Maltesers (Mrs Shackleton’s admitted favourite).
